Fiji 11/12-17.11.2011

Fiji here we are !!! We safety arrived at Nadi-the capital city of Fiji- after a long flight from Honolulu-with a stop over in Apia (Samoa). After spending 8h30 at the plane we were glad to discover our beach resort just 15min taxi ride from the airport. The hotel has about 30 wooden-cottages and due to the low season it is pretty empty. Our neightboors were very loud each morning at 6am and around 2am at night as well! and we really wanted to do something bad to them :)The resort get a tiny pool which is never over-crowded and the beach is right to the hotel. Sea is not suitable to swim due to the water level which getting up and down every day. Normally is not more than 30cm high through about 200m from the coast. This time we wanted to choose something different than the white sandy beach and clear blue water-which Fiji offers as well- so 'our sea' here is dark and green. Close to the  island are two famous islands: Castaway and Bounty. The animation crew offer daily a snorkelling boat ride so we took advantage to have a swim on deep and tried to observe some fishes. Such a disapointment! the reef is almost dead with a couple of fishes only.  So Ela caught the sun on boat and I spent time to get dive in a really warm water. Another day we took a shuttle to reach downtown Nadi but we forgot it was sunday so most of the shops were closed! We saw a pretty nice indian temple-lots Indian here!- and went for shopping in a supermarket to "survive" in our no plan meal beach hotel. The food at the hotel's  restaurants are good but a bit expensive to compare with the city. As we pay only 30 Euros per night for the accomodation it's basicaly not a big issue! We had a small ride with a pedal boat and kayaking as well. The most of the time we enjoyed laying on the hamacs in front the sea side- beautiful view !Next step is New Zeland where we gonna spend 3 weeks!
